The British Transpersonal Association (BTA) is a non-profit organisation.

We are passionate about helping to develop a new model for mental wellbeing,

creativity and human potential.

Transpersonal Psychology aims to move beyond symptom relief of mental health challenges, towards psychospiritual and psychological development through expanded states of consciousness. This shift begins with the character trait of ‘openness’, which is displayed as: a balanced and tolerant view of multiple perspectives, an embracing of ambivalence, being cognitively flexible and exhibiting intellectual curiosity, creativity and imagination.

The Vision:

To create a philosophy of transpersonal psychology, and a wider understanding of expanded states of consciousness.

The objectives:

  • Raise awareness of the historical and cultural practices of consciousness expansion.

  • Spotlight the scientifically proven benefits of expanded states of consciousness.

  • Engage in projects which will illuminate, and advocate for, the basic human right of access to those practices which assist in exploring and expanding consciousness.

  • Support and offer educational pathways and community, for those interested in the effects of expanded states of consciousness on mental wellbeing.

  • Explore the broader implications of  transpersonal psychology on wider society including: Ecopsychology and Emergent Transpersonal Social Engagement.
